# AI credit system for school workspaces

### AI credit system for school workspaces


School workspaces now have a shared AI credit pool that admins manage from one place. Teachers can use those credits to generate images in their worksheets, and learners can use credits for AI-powered activities when the workspace admin enables it. The system was built so schools have clear, practical control over how AI is used across their workspace and by whom.



### How does it work?


*a) For Admins*

A new **AI Credits** page is now available under **Workspace Settings**.
Here you can see the workspace's total AI credit pool, how many credits have been **allocated** to teachers, how many have been allocated to students (if student AI is enabled), and how many credits remain **unallocated**.

As an administrator, you can review the following details in four cards:

**1.** **Plan total**
Here, you can view the total number of AI credits available in the workspace.

**2.** **Teachers**
In this card, you can see the total number of credits allocated to **paid teachers**. Click **Settings** to define a default number of credits for every **paid teacher** in the workspace. The amount you enter—for example, 50 credits—will automatically become available in every paid teacher's account within the workspace.

**3.** **Students**
Use the switch here to enable AI for students. Click **Settings** to define how many credits each student receives (that is, how many credits are available to an individual student).

**4.** **Unallocated credits**
In the last card, with a single click, you can **allocate** all currently unallocated credits among teachers and students.

The table displays each teacher's total allocated credits, credit usage, and remaining balance. From here, you can also assign additional credits to paid teachers.

The total number of allocated credits can never exceed the total number of credits included in your subscription. The interface prevents overallocation.


*b) For teachers*

Credits are automatically assigned based on the administrator's settings, so no additional configuration is required.
When generating a worksheet draft with AI, the draft may include suggestions for image generation. Each image can be generated individually or all at once, and the credit cost is displayed before you generate the images. You can also add your own images by clicking the **+** button anywhere image suggestions are available. To find out more about AI-based image generation, read this article.


Your current credit balance is shown in the sidebar. A detailed breakdown of your credit usage is available under **Profile → AI Credits**.

*c) For students*

AI can also be enabled for students, allowing them to use it both for independent learning and practice within Units, as well as for AI-based evaluation.
The credit system operates entirely in the background for students. They do not see credit costs or their current balance. If a student runs out of credits for the current period, they will see a message explaining when their AI access will be restored.


**Why it helps**
Admins now have a straightforward way to manage how their school uses AI, with a clear view of usage across every teacher. Teachers can add visual context to their worksheets without extra effort, as the AI suggests where images fit and what they should show. And the whole system stays out of sight for learners, so the classroom experience is unaffected.
